|
Lura Duvall - Lander County
Assessor WHAT THE ASSESSOR DOES: In the State
of Nevada, the Assessor values all property subject to taxation. The Assessor
is required by Nevada law to discover, list and value all property within the
county. The property is assessed at 35% of its current taxable value. In
addition to the over 7,376 parcels of real property including vacant land,
homes, agricultural land and commercial buildings, the Assessor must also
value personal property of approximately 1,741 accounts including businesses,
airplanes, billboards and manufactured homes. WHAT THE
ASSESSOR DOES NOT DO: The Assessor
does not make the laws which affect property owners. The tax laws are made by
the Nevada Legislature. The tax rates and guidelines for assessment are set
by the Nevada Department of Taxation. The taxes on real and personal property
are collected by the elected County Treasurer. The Assessor does not
determine taxes. The Lander County Assessor is a
Certified Nevada Appraiser, Certified Residential Appraiser, and is affiliated
with the International Association of Assessing Officers. |
